Weekly Wrasslin' Not Wroundup (Aug 17-20)

Very little happened on the shows this week, and I haven't even had time to watch Smackdown. NXT featured a record EIGHT opponents already in the ring in a one hour show. Raw featured the return of Dolph Ziggler and that's about it. So instead of a Wroundup, let me get my predictions in for the two huge shows this weekend, starting with NXT Takeover: Brooklyn

Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger

Weekly Wrasslin' Wroundup (Aug 10-13)

Next weekend's a big one for WWE. On Saturday we have the NXT show, before their biggest ever crowd in Brooklyn. And the next night is the four-hour Summerslam. Needless to say, the first show is way more interesting. But we'll start with the main roster stuff.

SETH ROLLINS VS. JOHN CENA

Weekly Wrassslin' Wroundup (Aug 3-6)

With Ultima Lucha on the books, and Lucha Underground going dark until sometime between October and January (assuming the guy behind it is right that the chances of a Season 2 are 99.9%), the Weekly Wrasslin' Wroundup will be limited to just WWE unless I get so desperate I start watching Ring of Honor again.

So, with the runup to Summerslam, where do our feuds and stories stand?

SETH ROLLINS VS. JOHN CENA

Ultima Lucha

Many will say that the most important finale of the week was Jon Stewart's exit from The Daily Show on Thursday. But while I was watching that Thursday night, I was wearing my recently-acquired Lucha Underground t-shirt in celebration of the greatest finale of all time, ULTIMA LUCHA.

Lucha Underground's finale was everything that made Lucha Underground great. It wrapped up stories, started new stories, and was chock-full of first-rate in-ring action.

Weekly Wrasslin' Wroundup (July 27-30)

Battleground is on the books as one of the most disappointing PPV's of the year, and the week following it in WWE programming is basically saying that either WWE doesn't know what it's Summerslam plans are beyond Brock-Taker, or they know and aren't going to tell us. And there's only three hours of Lucha Underground left before the wait for Season 2 begins.

LUCHA UNDERGROUND IS STILL AWESOME

ULTIMA LUCHA HAS BEGUN.

One week from Battleground, and the WWE has one, count it, one match that I'm even remotely interested in. All other matches pale by comparison. Kevin Owens, and to a lesser extent, John Cena, is making the rest of the roster dull by comparison and also dull because of a bunch of shitty booking.

My cable box fucked up and so I missed 75% of Smackdown, so a lot of this will be going off of recaps because apparently "get it on demand if you missed it" is an alien concept to the WWE when it comes to their two most important shows. Anyway, where were we?

Weekly Wrasslin' Wroundup (June 23-27)

My goal, always, is to write about wrestling the way I'm thinking about wrestling, not think about wrestling the way I've decided to write about wrestling. So it's another format change for the Weekly Wrasslin' Wroundup, looking at characters, feuds, stories, and matches across the week.
